Smart contracts, machine learning – Not replacing but augmenting lawyers.
AI is not new. The term conjures up images of robots and flash backs to films, generally about robots designed to help humans but invariably rebelling against the makers and killing people or triggering global war! Suffice to say AI has a bit of bad press!
The press is enjoying the resurgence of AI and publishing the stories of AI replacing people’s jobs including lawyers but the reality is that AI is maturing at a rate never seen before and certainly will help in many areas of work, especially in decision support and analysis, particularly in repetitive and/or high volume work. That is, not to say, the high volume work is the low value high volume work but it is playing an important part in analysing masses of data or finding things is millions of contracts that would not be economical to use lawyers or even paralegals.
Lights-On is well versed in AI and where it may help you and we have worked with a number of firms to position them in respect of AI or to educate their board. Additionally we have provided independent thought leadership to IT directors who want to get to a position of considered understanding quickly to be able to discus internally with the firm’s leadership.
